INTELLIGENCE NEWS FLASH:

As we go to posting this page, we just received information from one source on the ground in Israel that there are significant Israeli troop movements that suggest a major Israeli Offensive seems about to begin. The source indicates that the movements would suggest Israel is about to return to classic Israeli military strategy and encircle southern Lebanon with 2 IDF army divisions with another separate force perhaps poised to invade northern Lebanon's Bekaa Valley where Hezbollah's main headquarters and weapons depots are located, along with what is thought to be Saddam Hussein's old WMDs that were transferred to the Bekaa Valley more than three years ago just before the US invaded Iraq.

Our singular source on this report is not certain that an actual invasion "in force" is about to take place, but the preliminary signals seem to indicate that this is about to occur, perhaps later on Monday? However, the misguided bombing of a building in Qana, Lebanon may have altered Israel's plans, at least temporarily. Israel's Prime Minister Olmert stated just hours ago that Israel still needs about 10 to 14 days to complete its mission of eliminating the Hezbollah security threat to Israel.

Israel Prepared For Syrian Attack

Israel's military is prepared for any Syrian attack against Israel, according to a high-ranking IDF officer. The IDF officer noted that Israel has no interest in provoking an armed confrontation with Syria but the officer noted that Israel will respond harshly and with its full might against Syrian forces, should Syria's president order Syrian forces to attack Israel. Syrian military forces have been reported to be on "high alert" for war with Israel for several days now much like it was in the first few days of the conflict's beginning. The Jerusalem Post indicates that IDF sources have told the paper that the IDF has received indications from the United States that America would be interested in seeing Israel attack Syria. More details from the Jerusalem Post are here.
