Mass Aliyah may have already begun.

The following may be a strange way to show you what is happening on the ground here in Israel in regards to Aliyah (Jewish immigration to Israel) but it certainly makes the point.

Connie and I have rented from a couple of Druses who moved to Holland four years ago. It’s a lovely place with grapes and fruit trees sitting in the Judean hills, but I must also say you could find many safer places to live. We daily have to travel by several “Palestinian” villages, and as you might remember I’ve been shot at a couple of times. But we loved living here, the air is clean and the view is breathtaking. One of the things that made this place so attractive to us was the monthly rent was only $600 per month, while anything close to this quality in Jerusalem at that time would have been at least $1,500 a month.

So we started searching for a new place to live and have we been surprised to see what has happened to the prices in the past 4 years. We have been reading in the Jerusalem Post how the real estate market has gone crazy in Jerusalem and throughout Israel over the past few years but we were still not ready for what we found.

Three bedroom apartments in Jerusalem are now renting for upwards to $3,000 per month. We found 3 bedroom houses renting for as high as $6,000+ per month.

Connie and I made Aliyah in 1979 and we have never bought a place because we have always felt it was not what we should spend money on when we knew of so many needs in ministry. But in the past rent was always been reasonable and we always were able to find long-term rental and at bargain prices without a lot of trouble, but those days have long gone.

The reason for the very high increase in real estate is not one we here in Israel can complain about, at least not out loud. Jews from France, Germany and all over Europe as well as from the US and Canada have been buying apartments faster then they can be built and willing to pay a premium price for them. In Jerusalem alone it’s hard to find a neighborhood that is not under construction on nearly every block as new apartment buildings are going up everywhere. All around Jerusalem the hillsides are turning into expensive housing projects. What is also very good news Jews from the US and Canada are now pouring into Israel by the thousands. It seems that nearly very month Officials from the Government are meeting planes at the Tel-Aviv airport welcoming new immigrants from north America to Israel.

What is not good news is the average Israeli is finding it almost impossible to afford buying an apartment as the price has rose in some cases 400 to 500% over the past 5 years. When a very large majority of these newly purchased apartments are bought by Jews who don’t want to live here at this time but want to be sure they have a place to run to when the times gets bad for them where they now live. This of course also raises the monthly rental way beyond the average Israelis ability to rent.

For example when a young couple gets married it has always been the custom for the parents to get together and buy them an apartment or house if possible. But families are finding that impossible these days, for what did cost $150,000 now runs close to a million.

I am telling you this because it is a real indicator of what is happening on the ground here in Israel as far as Aliyah and future Aliyah. As for Connie and I we have found a place in another Moshave in the Judean Hills at what one might consider with today’s prices a real deal. We still haven’t completed the negotiations on the place but it looks like we will come to terms soon.

Has Israel been sold out,

or are they just plain stupid?

With the former Chief of Staff of the IDF who was fired by Sharon once again saying I told you so, we find the IDF back in the Jewish Settlements in Gaza. And Hamas putting up a fight with gun battles, most of the “Palestinians” who have been killed have still not been touched with the hundreds of artillery shelling but by IAF missiles as they were preparing to launch more Kassams into Ashkelon (a city of 120,000 Jews).

But that hasn’t’ stopped these Islamic Terrorists now known mostly as the PA (Hamas controlled Government). For we are still daily getting shelled in the outskirts of Ashkelon and in the city of Sderot where they have been getting bombarded daily for months with little to no help from the Kadima Government led by Ehud Olmert, in fact, over the past few days the Kassam rockets have increased.

The left that now leads Israel’s Government was wrong at Oslo and the arming of the so-called Palestinians, they were wrong at Camp David where Arafat made a fool out of Clinton and Barak. They were wrong at Sharm where Abbas lied in the face of Bush and Sharon, and today this Israeli Government is either in partnership with those who would destroy Israel or they have swallowed to many stupid pills. But one thing is certain today Israel is facing threats from all sides and at a higher level than any time over the past 58 years.

Israel has always dealt from a position of strength with its Islamic neighbors who have but one goal, the total and complete destruction of the Jewish State. This is a very tough neighborhood and only the strong survive. Arab mentality is built on the rule of the sword, if they are not fighting and killing an enemy they kill each other, there is never peace with these Islamic murderers.

In my last article I said that the humanitarian aid now being sent into Gaza is the wrong thing to do, for it only prolongs the war, as it keeps the enemies of Israel strong enough to keep killing us, and they continue to suffer more. I received several emails telling me that my statement wasn’t a “Christian” thing to say, that I should be more compassionate. What these misguided souls don’t understand is the only humane there is to do is to stop all aid until they surrender completely, for at that time they will be more than willing to negotiate a peace with Israel. To continue sending in the aid only prolongs the misery and bloodshed. Believing themselves to be doing a good thing they are in fact causing many more deaths.

Connie and I will be traveling outside of Israel for a few days this coming week and we ask for your prayers, it is necessary for us to travel far more than we would like but there is no other way to get these things done. We both know as do hundreds of others that it is time to purchase the larger boat, and we are searching and praying every day. So much still needs to be accomplished and we feel we have precious little time.

A second letter has been sent out to the safe houses. Please answer as soon as you receive it.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, for our son Joel and all the IDF soldiers. Pray for this Ministry and your part in it. Shalom, jerry golden
