OBAMA AND THE NEW AGE

[NOTE: In “One On One: Regulating the Pursuit of Self” (Jerusalem Post, February 4, 2009), Amitai Etzioni states: “There is no philosophy that better describes Obama’s position than Communitarianism,” which Etzioni defines as a term “that would speak for community and the common good.” (In his March 4, 1801 inaugural address, while referring to majority rule and minority rights, Thomas Jefferson was the first president to refer to the “common good.”) Interestingly, Etzioni in his The Essential Communitarian Reader (p. ix) said the term was coined in 1841 by John Goodwyn Barmby, who founded the Universal Communitarian Association (originally called the Communist Propaganda Society). In Dana Milbank’s “Needed: Catchword for Bush Ideology; ‘Communitarianism’ Finds Favor” (The Washington Post, February 1, 2001), Etzioni was quoted as saying George W. Bush’s Inaugural Address was “a Communitarian Text.”

As I’ve mentioned numerous times before, the Power Elite (PE) uses crises to move us toward its ultimate goal of a World Socialist Government. The current global economic crisis is devaluing currencies so that the people of the world will be forced to accept regional currencies and then a global currency, which is an important part of the PE’s plan. Relevant to this, Ira Iosebashvili in The Moscow Times (March 17, 2009) wrote “At G20 Kremlin Pitch New Currency,” which begins with “the Kremlin calling for the creation of a supranational reserve currency to be issued by international institutions as part of a reform of the global financial system…. Both President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin have repeatedly called for the ruble to be used as a regional reserve currency…. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed a global currency…. He also suggested that the Eurasian Economic Community… adopt a single noncash currency – the yevraz – to insulate itself from the global economic crisis…. Nazarbayev’s proposal did garner support from at least one source – Columbia University’s Prof. Robert Mundell, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1999 for his role in creating the euro.”]

In Part 4 of my NewsWithViews.com column on “The Rockefeller Plan,” I referred to 2012 as the year New Agers believe the Piscean (Christian) Age will end and the Age of Aquarius will begin. Relevant to this, the cover of the January/February 2009 edition of the New Age innerchange has 2012 with a question mark, and the editor states: “There are many great visionary writers, scientists and social theorists who believe that 2012 is the threshold for a time of accelerated planetary change. Some spiritual leaders believe it is the impetus for a great spiritual evolvement.” Inside this edition is also a description of “the Lucifer Archetype.”

I further mentioned in Part 4 of “The Rockefeller Plan” that Lucifer Publishing was the original name of Lucis Trust. For a number of years, Gordon Davidson worked for Lucis Trust. He and Corinne McLaughlin formed Visionary Leadership and authored Spiritual Politics, in which we are told there are “Enlightened Ones” or “Masters of Wisdom” who “form an ‘invisible government’… that guides humanity’s evolution.”

If one looks at, one will see McLaughlin’s 2006 article titled “What if Christ or Buddha Returned as a Businessman or even a Politician?” In the article, she related the New Age concept that “Christ, Buddha and other great Masters… show us how to transform society….” Writing about “the inner divinity within ourselves,” she explained “it is the fiery light that creates the magnetic love energy vortex.”

McLaughlin then asked, “How far fetched can it be for Christ to return as a politician?” She answered her own question by saying, “If Christ returned as a politician, he would embody, yet transcend, Christian doctrine and appeal to all faiths.” (Remember here that Barack Obama carries a miniature of the Hindu monkey-god idol “Lord Hanuman” in his pocket.)

McLaughlin next asked, “What kind of changes would the Christ make if he were elected President of the United States?” (Remember here that when New Agers refer to the “the Christ” they aren’t referring exclusively to Jesus.) As if forecasting our own political situation today, she explained: “A great Master who returned would probably be low key at first, acting as a unifier, rather than a divider of people…. [People] would recognize him also by his compassion, humility, and universality—embracing all kinds of people from all religions…. He would listen to views on all sides of an issue and find higher common ground.” Sound familiar?

Using New Age language, McLaughlin asked, “Wouldn’t we be affected by the power of his energy field?” And she concluded by indicating “a great Master… would come to establish the principles and techniques for creating right relationships.”

Remember all of the above was written by McLaughlin in 2006. Then compare it to McLaughlin’s and Gordon Davidson’s 2008 article, “The Spiritual Dimensions of Obama’s Leadership.” This work begins with the New Age authors contending that “in this moment of historical crisis, another great leader, uniquely qualified to meet the needs of our nation and the world, has come forth, overlighted by Spirit…. He is a catalyst dropped into a supersaturated solution… that has for years been calling out for a leader to unite our nation and establish right relations with the world.” They next describe his destiny as “actualized by the radiation of his own soul and by the collective consciousness of the people who call him forth and prepare his way.” And they conclude by calling him “a transcendental leader” and explaining that “the economic cleansing currently underway paves the way for an eventual reordering with greater integrity and fairness in our financial systems.”

In “Hillary Clinton failed to master female approach, former mentor Jean Houston says” (Los Angeles Times, May 12, 2008), reporter Robin Abcarian noted that leading New Ager Jean Houston said Sen. Obama has “a shamanic personality, of course.” And in “New Age America Is Entranced By Obama’s Electoral Aura” (The Guardian, July 3, 2008), reporter Oliver Burkeman noted the endorsement of Obama by “Oprah Winfrey, increasingly involved in New Age spirituality.” Burkeman further explained that “American New Age guru Deepak Chopra” declared that if Barack Obama entered the White House as president, “It will represent a quantum leap in American consciousness.” Burkeman continued: “A curious side-story in this year’s election campaign is that the new age movement in the U.S. has embraced Obama even more fervently than most of his supporters…. ‘Many spiritually advanced people I know… identify Obama as a lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who [can] actually usher in a new way of being on the planet,” wrote the San Francisco Chronicle columnist Mark Morford in a piece headlined ‘Is Obama an Enlightened Being?’… The Obama-as-lightworker notion is more than a matter of tone. We’re talking about the dawning of the age of aquarius.”

Another leading New Ager, Barbara Marx Hubbard, recently in her blog stated that “our recent presidential election clearly reflects the evolutionary shift that we have been talking about and sensing. Many of us appreciate that President-elect Obama is already a universal person…. This could not have happened if there was not a rise in consciousness in the United States and throughout the world.”

And more recently, New Ager Tom Carney of Arcana Workshop in his column “We are the Great Unfolding” (Thoughtline, February 2009), quoted from Luciferian Alice Bailey’s “Ascended Masters” and refered to the New Group of World Servers (NGWS, founded by Bailey in 1925) and “The Plan.” Carney next announced, “We were able to invoke, from the community we call the NGWS, a qualified leader…. This man’s name is Barack Obama.” Carney then refered to “the spiral of the Will which carried Barack Obama into the most powerful position on the planet” and the “paramount importance of the Common Good.” He concluded by stating “that we charted a new Soul determined course in Sagittarius is evident in the behavior and the model of right human relations… as humanity moves forward into the new civilization and world culture of the new age we will come to know as the Age of Light.” Remember here that to Theosophists like Bailey, Lucifer is the “Light Bringer” and Sagittarius rules Washington, D.C.

Finally, New Ager Benjamin Crème, who claims to be a spokesman Maitreya (“the Christ”), in a November 30, 2008 interview said Obama would be more responsive than John McCain to Maitreya’s ideas. And in response to a question as to whether Obama could be the last President (to be replaced by a group of wise elder statesmen) Crème replied: “That is still the Plan, so there is every chance that Mr. Obama will be the last President.”
