Remember what Enron did to California and millions of investors? It took advantage of deregulation in California, manipulating electricity prices by raiding the futures market, overscheduling power lines, and creating fears about shortages. PG&E went bankrupt because it could not raise rates to customers.[1] The whole thing unraveled, and Enron went down in flames in the biggest bankruptcy in American history.

Enron was a clumsy corporate attempt to raid a captive energy market. It was also a proving grounds testing how much monkey business a single corporation can get away with. Savvy investment firms and avaricious lawyers analyzed the Enron case – realizing they could turn a huge buck on oil futures – so long as they tacitly let oil companies constrain the oil supply without manipulating the supply directly themselves.

Giant speculative investment funds and oil companies now make tremendous profits raiding the oil spot-market, playing seemingly separate but implicitly cooperative roles serving up the same end-effect as Enron wreaked on California. But this time, the victim is the American consumer, not energy producers and distributors.

Federal and state politicians in both parties have failed to address this “Enroning of America” because government is on the take too. Taxes rise with gasoline prices, fattening political contributions while feeding slush budgets and pork barrels at both the state and federal levels.

Oil companies grin like Howard Stern on satellite because outrageous spot market prices drive windfall profits. Record oil-company windfall profits are derived from gross internal company book-value transfers of oil products made between offshore divisions to U.S. operations – the value differential pegged to spot market prices – which also has the concurrent effect of exporting tax liabilities overseas.

Fears of global warming, fears of shortages due to weather or minor refinery disruptions, Middle-East stability, and consumption in China have turned high gasoline prices into an honorable predation in service of imaginary higher moral and political purposes.

National Public Radio first documented this problem in its story “Analyst: Blame Investors for High Gas Prices.”[2] The story revealed a truth: “Investment banks from Morgan Stanley to Goldman Sachs are making so much money from oil futures that they've become a hot investment for all sorts of big-money players.” Ben Dell, an oil analyst and Sanford Bernstein calls it correctly, if not conservatively: “pension funds and other investors are buying oil to remove it from the market -- which can help drive up demand -- before selling it for a profit some months later”:

“I think if you saw all the pension funds walk away you'd probably see a $20 drop in the crude price."[3]
Dell thinks that mass speculation will end when production capacity meets demand. This is a backwards analysis. Production capacity will never meet demand so long as mass speculation makes unproductivity immensely profitable. According to the International Monetary fund (IMF), oil companies have not invested in additional production capacity – thus intentionally maintaining record oil company profits.[4] Oil companies are negatively motivated to increase capacity in the speculatively-manipulated market because they reap tremendous profits by sitting on their thumbs.

Gouging by playing “Fear Factor”

Oil companies normally buy some spot oil futures against excess production by other oil companies to make sure they will have enough crude. In this legitimate market, there are only so many dollars chasing so many excess barrels of future oil.

Pension and other large speculative bank-owned investors discovered they could manipulate the market out of sheer size. By making huge purchases of futures, they could accelerate fears, take oil offline, drive the price up even more – and make handsome profits in just a few weeks or months. The spot market is now distorted – too many dollars chasing around the same amount spot oil. Minor fluctuations in gas prices became wide swings. The word “hurricane” is all it takes to provide cover for raiders to buy in. Over time, the constant pressure to maintain futures profits has caused steep, consistent rises in baseline crude and refined prices over the past five years.

Analyzing the roughly 566% increase of crude oil prices since 1995,[5] accompanied by a parallel rise in refined-gasoline prices, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) admits that fear is the major factor driving oil price gouging:

“Naturally, given the tightness in the oil market and uncertainties about demand and supply, factors such as geopolitical developments, fears of potential supply disruptions, and speculation have also all played a part in price movements, but largely through their impact on expectations regarding future fundamentals.”[6]
After identifying fear as the major factor, the IMF absolved its institutional friends manipulating those fears, suggesting the effect of entry into the market by Hedge and pension funds merely adds “diversity” to the market that can “be a source of liquidity and price discovery.”[7] Read between the lines, America: the IMF just admitted that banks and pension funds are “discovering” new oil prices by flooding a brittle market with paper purchases, and laughing all the way back to the bank.

Is There Really an Oil Shortage?

In 1978, I flew to Europe to visit a college friend who worked in London. An oil-trader friend of his from Paris flew in for a weekend restaurant tour with us. When I asked the man what he did for a living, he replied confidently “I f*** the world”. I was shocked then, and even more-so today.

If data by the United States Energy Information Agency (EIA) is reliable, there is no actual shortage of either oil or production capacity in relation to consumption.

Between 1980 and 2004, world consumption increased by 30.8%,[8] while U.S. consumption increased only 21.5%.[9] World production increased 23.2%,[10] but U.S. production actually decreased by 40.3%.[11]

In terms of world static supply and demand, in 2004 73,387 thousand barrels/day (TBD) of oil were produced,[12] against demand of 82,594 TBD consumed.[13] This would leave a 12% structural deficit. However, looking at 1980 world data, we also see a 5.7% deficit: 59,557 TBD were produced[14] against consumption of 63,113 TBD.[15]

The EIA data suggests a long-term physical impossibility: world consumption has been actually outstripping world production for many years. I conclude there is data missing from EIA reports. This could consist of under-reporting of production, over-reporting of consumption, or perhaps both.

World distillation capacity rose 81% from 47,049 TBD in 1970, to 85,304 TBD in 2007. However, distillation capacity increased only 6.7% between 1980 and 2007.[16] It is interesting to note that the EIA reports 2007 distillation capacity of 85,304 TBD, which factoring-in demand growth, is roughly in-line with 2004 consumption of 82,594 TBD (post-2004 consumption data is not available yet.

In the United States, distillation capacity actually decreased from 17,988 TBD in 1980 to 17,397 TBD in 2007. The lowest point in U.S. distillation capacity occurred in 1994, when capacity was only 15,034 TBD.[17]

Proven reserve data suggests a very positive future outlook. Proven U.S. reserves rose 734% from 29.81 billion barrels in 1980 to 213.32 billion barrels in 2004.[18] Proven world reserves grew 204% from 644.93 billion barrels in 1980 to 1,317.44 billion barrels in 2007.[19]

Now, we look at spot-market oil prices. In 1974, oil cost about $5 per barrel. By January, 1980 oil nearly quintupled to $24 per barrel. It dropped to a low point of $9.50 in 1999, skyrocketed to $58 per barrel in 2005,[20] peaking at $69.52 in August, 2006.

We see that oil prices exploded 173% between 1999 to August, 2006.[21] This is a breathtaking change for a necessary commodity.

Is there really a shortage? We can say conclusively that we have not seen gas lines in any free world country. This suggests there is no actual shortage in either the United States or the world.

Here is what we can take away from the above information:

1. U.S. oil companies cut back U.S. distillation capacity substantially between 1980 and 2004. This seeded fears. Spot market prices rose tremendously, thus increasing profits to oil companies.
2. U.S. oil companies decreased stateside production 40.3% between 1980 and 2004, driving fears about dependence on foreign oil, and creating an illusion that shortages were imminent.
3. These two items, in conjunction with speculative manipulation of the spot market by banks and pension funds, caused oil company profits to soar. The world’s three largest oil companies netted profits of $172,000 per minute during the second quarter of 2006. Profits going forward look similarly bullish.[22]
The Effects of Inflated Energy Costs

Enronesque oil speculation disproportionately affects low-income Americans to the immediate benefit of oil companies, governmental bodies, and upper-class investors. The poorest Americans can least afford transportation, thus marginalizing them.

Economists believe that maximizing private retirement funds will result in lower demands on Social Security as baby-boomers retire. However, the high present-day cost of oil decreases what individuals can afford to contribute to their retirement funds – perhaps taking marginal investors out of the contemporary investment picture entirely.

Robbing the bank today to save the bank tomorrow is a zero-sum game. When low-income Americans can no longer afford to drive longer distances getting to work, they settle for lower wages available close to home. In inner-city and remote rural locations, where employment opportunities are scarce or non-existent, employment may no longer even be feasible. Present-day welfare demands can be predicted to rise, and social security contributions predicted to fall.

This problem is not limited to oil markets. In the name of “deregulation”, investors are now raiding electricity markets nationwide. This is driving up home energy costs for everyone, causing utility companies to defer lifecycle replacement of end-of-life equipment, resulting in massive power outages caused by wet or cold weather failures of antiquated step-down equipment never before experienced by customers.

For example, several extended power outages in Missouri affecting over ½ million customers each can be attributed to failure of Ameren U.E. to proactively replace old step-down transformers, which explode when rusting enclosures permit moisture entry during inclement weather. Here is proof: this past February, I counted seven step-down transformer explosions, on one day, within earshot of my home after a large wet snowstorm.

Clearly, constraints must be applied to all energy markets to ensure free resource exchanges within markets undistorted by giant speculative investors.

High energy costs make international outsourcing of manufacturing and exportable service industries attractive in countries where workers commonly walk, use public transportation, ride bicycles, or live in corporate dormitories. High energy costs also raise the bar at which Americans will work, making illegal immigration more attractive to foreigners and American businesses.

The Answer

The U.S. House of Representative recently passed oil price-gouging legislation that would force the major oil companies to break up.[23] This feel-good legislation will not fix the problem because it does not change the passive but orchestrated role played by oil producers and speculators profiting from the gouging game.

For many years, Presidents and politicians have repeatedly promised actions to reduce dependence on foreign oil, while knowingly permitting oil companies to decrease stateside production capacity and increase our dependence on foreign oil. The jig is up. No politician can survive without taking decisive action to end the “Enroning Of America.” This must be one of the leading issues in upcoming Congressional and Presidential races.

Five things should be done. A free market will not exist until speculative investing is fully disallowed for critical energy commodities including oil and electricity:

1. Small investors holding retirement accounts should boycott investment firms and mutual funds that tout or place any of their funds in spot market futures. You do not gain by paying outrageous gas prices now only to be paid back in cheaper dollars later.

2. Consumer class-action lawsuits, perhaps invoking RICO should be filed against oil producers and investment firms, to recover illicit profits and return them to consumers. Governmental bodies who received windfall taxes should also be named and forced to return the taxes. With a case like this, it won’t be necessary to shop the case out to the corrupt the corrupt bench in Madison County, Illinois.

3. Speculation must not be permitted in mission-critical markets. Congress must enact Federal legislation limiting spot-market trading in oil and utilities to companies that directly produce, refine, or sell oil.

4. Congressional hearings must be had to interview executives in both industries and discover the extent of monopolistic collaboration.

5. If information discovered in Congressional hearings and class-action suits warrants, criminal charges should be filed against executives in both industries who have knowingly collaborated to gouge the American consumer.

Do we have a national, mental illness? Sometimes I wonder. We seem to be trying on various personalities because our healthy one is apparently boring now! Not enough tabloid ratings, I guess! Allow me to look in our national mirror for a second before I go to my next therapy session. Who am I…..who are we…..who are we supposed to be?

We have a history of being "a nation under God." We have had Presidents and other leaders praying for God's guidance and encouraging prayer since our beginning. In fact, the first Day of Prayer was created by the Congress clear back in 1775. In 1952, both Houses of Congress asked the President to set aside a day each year as National Day of Prayer. Have we forgotten SO MANY of the heart felt and very public words of our leaders and founders? "I pray God I may be given the wisdom and the produence4 to do my duty in the true spirit of this great people. Woodrow Wilson. Other tid bits from just small fry guys like former Presidents include: "So we pray to Him now for the vision to see our way clearly, to see the way that leads to a better life for ourselves and for all our fellow men, Franklin D. Roosevelt. Then there was that nobody George Washington. "Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection…" As we walk forward into the present times we also see a reflection of our spiritual heritage. "Almighty God, as we stand here, at this moment, my future associates in the executive branch of the government join me in beseeching that Thou will make full and complete our dedication to the service of the people…..Dwight Eisenhower. "Today, we utter no prayer more fervently than the ancient prayer for peace on Earth, Ronald Reagan. I could go on and on.

So, as I ponder the core of the spirit part of our personality, it is clear we have traditionally sought God's guidance and help in the development, leading and protection of our people and country.

What else makes up our personality? We have historically had a sense of sovereignty, borders, a language and a love for freedom. We have never ignored our immigration laws and border security until the last few decades when we began to sell out to the greed of what businesses wanted….cheap, slave labor. Of course, some of you rude people don't want to work for peanuts. The truth was and still is, Americans have and would do the jobs the anti American crowd says we won't do. We just aren't slaves and don't want to work for dog food wages!

Before the endless immigration compromises we had a few visionaries. Listen to the words of Theodore Roosevelt back in 1907. "In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American…There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. Theodore Roosevelt 1907 Gee…..what was not clear about that statement? Today, his words would be called hate speech and racism, simply because he was defining and defending our national right and personality!!!

Sadly, when I look at this strange new personality trying to smash the healthy one, I look at globalism, the North American Union push and the demonizing of border patrol agents and the Minutemen when they try to protect our borders. Then there are the plans to build the super highway, the largest land grab in history, slicing through homesteads, businesses and farms through our heartland.

What is painfully clear is that the common folks, most of us according to poll after poll want border security and aren't for another amnesty and mock immigration bill. Most of us want to protect our national heritage, history under God and identify the bad guys and get them. Most of us do care about compassion and reaching out to the poor. Most of us aren't racist pigs.

It's the frightening, mental disorder crowd that is twirling in circles from their own personality confusion that wants us to be a nation under the Goddess, tree bark or global warming. We are to feel shame for being a US citizen…. after all that is hate speech and we are capitalist pigs. Our future personality is that we are to be Citizens of North America, apologetic for our existence, and experts in studying the suffering and psychosis of our enemies. We are to spend endless money, resources and lives understanding our enemies. Don't say anything honest or remotely rude to them…..they might sue us before they kill us!!!!

I want our healthy and old personality back!!!! Therapist go home. ACLU go home. Idiot Politicians and Berkley attorneys, go home. Illegals and criminals go home. Our problem isn't our history and personality as a country….IT IS TOO MANY JERKS AND PSYCHOS WHO WANT TO CHANGE US AT THE DINNER TABLE!!

EFS, or Education for Sustainability programs are currently being pushed into schools across our nation. These programs are designed to pressure students to adopt a ‘sustainable’ lifestyle both in and out of the classroom. The problem with Education for Sustainability is that, although presented as non-partisan, EFS programs reflect the political goals of the Greens, party and movement.

Education for Sustainability amounts to teaching America’s children to embrace Green Party ideology. The political motive behind these programs is to produce a nation of Green voters. The intended outcome of Education for Sustainability is rapid, nationwide political indoctrination of our children.

This is one of the most important issues of our time because political indoctrination would be harmful to our children and ultimately to our nation. Abraham Lincoln warned, “The philosophy of the classroom in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next”. Our lives are intrinsically linked to the political process and education plays a vital role.

Most Americans do not realize that Education for Sustainability goals include:

Reducing consumption by 75%

Diminishing the value of individual success

Developing a global ethic that transcends all other systems of allegiance and beliefs
These goals are the tip of the Green iceberg. The Greens are redefining and expanding the meaning of sustainability to mask their radical agenda. Teaching our children that individual success is bad prepares them to accept less so they will reduce their quality of life by 75%. Teaching our children to abandon their allegiance to our country prepares them to abandon the value of being an American. Relinquishing their personal beliefs prepares them to live without freedom.

History provides us with sad and real examples of how education has been used in the past to politically indoctrinate children and change the course of nations. It is a historical fact that Vladimir Lenin used education to indoctrinate children with Communist Party ideology and Adolf Hitler used education to indoctrinate children to support the nature-based Nazi ideology. The phrase “never again” is often used in reference to Hitler’s reign of terror. Preventing education from being used to indoctrinate children into the ranks of a revolutionary party and movement is part of this “never again” commitment.

A program (like EFS) that targets children, changes the purpose of public education and politicizes the curriculum to advance revolutionary goals is a program designed to indoctrinate innocent children. Slipping EFS into our schools and Green Party ideology into the curriculum is a supreme violation of the public trust. Checking the content of the EFS curriculum is no different than checking the content of the foods our children consume. It is our responsibility.

Worth repeating …

Anthony Cortese, the president of Second Nature and one of the leading advocates in the Education for Sustainability movement, clarified their purpose saying:

“And humans are guided by a whole set of beliefs and values, and those come from culture, from religion, from social, economic and political structure. We need to change all of those.”

The purpose of Education for Sustainability is to use the power of education to:

systematically change our children’s beliefs and values;

instill Green cultural, religious, social, economic and political beliefs in our children; and

change our nation’s cultural, religious, social, economic and political structure.
“We advocate a diverse system of education that would introduce children early to the wonders of the Great School (Nature), and would cultivate the wisdom of eco-education, eco-economics, eco-politics and eco-culture,” Green Party Platform 2004.

The Greens advocate a nature-based eco-education that would teach our children to support their ideas for eco-economics, eco-politics and eco-culture. Education for Sustainability reflects the nature-based ideology of the Greens and the strategy to use education to redirect our children’s economic, political and cultural beliefs.

The American standard of a politically neutral public education is an essential safeguard to free thought, individual freedom and the democratic process. It’s time to take action and preserve this ethic.

Education for Sustainability – the end game

The Eureka Times-Standard featured an editorial (Jan. 25, 2007) by David Cobb, the 2004 Green Party presidential candidate. Cobb stated the Greens are “committed to a fundamental transformation of how our government and our society operates.”

With these goals in mind, it is vital that we all understand the type of government and society the Greens envision. The following headline provides a snapshot.

“Czech prez: Environmentalism is new communism - Biggest threat to freedom, democracy, the market economy and prosperity.” WorldNetDaily - March 20, 2007

This statement confirms the message of the book Set Up & Sold Out, Find Out What Green Really Means. The next quotation verifies a growing understanding of the political agenda attached to sustainable development.

“The concept of ‘sustainable development,’ considered a euphemism for socialism and communism has been embraced in various pronouncements by the U.N. and even the U.S. government.” WorldNetDaily - May 13, 2007

The bottom line is Education for Sustainability goals mirror Green Party goals and Green Party goals mirror communism. If you are not familiar with the goals of the Greens, party and movement, or how those goals are being implemented, may I suggest you read Set Up & Sold Out.

On May 29, President Bush lambasted the critics of his supposedly bi-partisan immigration bill by suggesting that they "don't want to do what's right for America."

When logic runs short and reasons run out, the natural way out it to try to intimidate your critics with name-calling and irrational blustering.

Such was President Bush's speech to, of all people, a training center for border enforcement in Georgia.

And, of course, the reverse implication is that only the President wants to do what's right for America.

Bush's attack against the Immigration bill's critics was recorded by CBS News and The New York Times, among others.

CBS quotes Bush as saying that his legislation "makes it more likely we can enforce our border". The Times quotes Bush as saying that the groundswell of grass-roots opposition is full of "empty political rhetoric, trying to frighten our citizens."

Excuse me? If you aren't insulted, then let me be insulted on your behalf.

In the first place, the Establishment tells us bluntly that it's simply impossible to send 11 million law-breaking immigrants back to Mexico or wherever they came from. Their answer?

According to CBS, "The bill would give temporary legal status to millions of unlawful immigrants, provided they came forward, paid a fine and underwent criminal background checks. To apply for a green card, evidence of legal residency, they would have to pay another fine, learn English, return to their home country and wait in line."

Are they kidding?

Where would such low-paid workers get the money to pay these fines? Why would they come forward if they don't have the money? When would they learn English? How could the U.S. process 11 million criminal background checks if they can't do it now? And after all that, they have to return to their home country and wait in line anyway?

Um. So, why can't we save a few steps and just have them return to their home country right now and wait in line to satisfy our legal process currently in place?

The obvious answer is exactly the issue: this would actually fix the problem that they have no intention of fixing in the first place.

Since 9/11, the President has fought a trillion-dollar war on terrorism in Afghanistan and Iraq, but has done nothing to secure our borders, especially with Mexico. It's not that he couldn't, but that he wouldn't. It's not that he can't, it's just that he won't.

But why?

The globalist plan for this hemisphere is to first regionalize Mexico, Canada and the United States into a North American Union. This process is well underway.

The "other shoe" that dropped in early 2006 with the passage of CAFTA (Central American Free Trade Agreement) is designed to to wrap in central- and south-American countries. CAFTA was passed by a narrow margin only after bone-crunching lobbying efforts by President Bush, Vice-president Cheney, and half of the President's cabinet.

Opening the floodgate to illegal immigration creates a failsafe position for the global elite. Yes, they want a dirt-cheap labor force in the U.S. But most importantly, they are building a clever defense shield for their global conquest, such that the ONLY way to solve the immigration problem in the U.S. will be to merge the region together... just let the open wounds fester long enough until gangrene sets in and these self-proclaimed doctors of democracy will casually declare, "What else can be done but to amputate?"

President Bush acts shocked that his Immigration Bill would find, according to The Times, "stiff resistance from left and right."

Yet, The Times further states that "In recent weeks, officials have given dozens of interviews on the subject to radio programs, editorial boards and newspaper reporters around the country."

In this writer's estimation, that is exactly WHY some 86% of our citizens are outraged with this plan. They see through it like clear glass on a sunny day.

We may be dumb, Mr. Bush, but we ain't stupid!

It's you and your globalist cronies who "don't want to do what's right for America." It's you who is using "empty political rhetoric, trying to frighten our citizens."

The State Department’s top legal adviser told international lawyers on June 6 that President Bush is so committed to the primacy of international law that he has taken his home state of Texas to court on behalf of a group of Mexican killers. The Mexicans had been sentenced to death for murdering U.S. citizens, including young children.

John B. Bellinger III, legal adviser to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, cited the case, Mexico v. United States of America, in trying to convince the attorneys that the administration is doing what it can to enforce international law in U.S. courts.

In the case, Bush has come down on the same side as the U.N.’s International Court of Justice (ICJ), which ruled 14-1 on behalf of Mexico against the U.S. The ICJ was headed at the time by a judge from communist China, who also ruled against the U.S.

Bellinger’s audience was gathered at The Hague, a city in the Netherlands which is home to over 100 international organizations, including the U.N.’s International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court.

Sworn in as the Legal Adviser to the Secretary of State on April 8, 2005, Bellinger is described by the State Department as “the principal adviser on all domestic and international law matters to the Department of State, the Foreign Service, and the diplomatic and consular posts abroad.”

The Bellinger speech, designed to convince the pro-U.N. globalists in attendance that Bush is really on their side, should have been big news. Not only did he praise Bush for coming down on the side of foreign killers of Americans, in a major court case with international implications, but he demonstrated how far the administration is prepared to go to impress the “international community.”

In a major disclosure, Bellinger said that Bush is currently seeking immediate Senate ratification of 35 different “treaty packages.” He said these include the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), a measure rejected by President Reagan and his U.N. Ambassador Jeane Kirkpatrick. Bellinger didn’t name any of the other “treaty packages” that the administration wants to push through. But a number of radical treaties are known to be pending before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, headed by Democratic presidential candidate and Senator Joseph Biden.

Once again, it appears that Bush wants to ignore the concerns of conservatives in order to work with liberal Democrats and advance a controversial legislative agenda.

International Law

“To put it simply,” Bellinger said, “our critics sometimes paint the United States as a country willing to duck or shrug off international obligations when they prove constraining or inconvenient. That picture is wrong. The United States does believe that international law matters. We help develop it, rely on it, abide by it, and?contrary to some impressions?it has an important role in our nation’s Constitution and domestic law.”

Bellinger’s extraordinary speech, coming at a time when Bush is under fire for failing to protect America from a Mexican invasion of illegal aliens, demonstrates how the President has been working on behalf of Mexican interests?in this case, convicted Mexican killers claiming their “rights” were violated under a treaty?against the interests of his own nation. When the implications of the Mexico v. United States case are widely known, it can only further harm the administration’s chances for an amnesty-for-illegal-aliens bill.

Conservatives have shown, through derailing the bill, that they are not content to play dumb or go to sleep when the issue involves American sovereignty.

Rights for Killers

Many Americans are not aware that the Mexico v. United States case, also known as the Avena decision, was decided against the U.S. by the U.N.’s International Court of Justice (ICJ) and that the Bush Justice Department sided with the ICJ. What’s more, the Bush Justice Department took the case to the U.S. Supreme Court in order to force U.S. states to legally recognize the “rights” of Mexicans who kill Americans on U.S. soil. A decision from the Supreme Court is pending.

The case was taken to the ICJ by the government of Mexico on behalf of 51 of its citizens who had carried out these murders in the U.S. The argument advanced by Mexico on behalf of the killers was that they were not afforded a timely opportunity to meet with Mexican representatives in the U.S. known as consular officers. This was said to be required under the Vienna Convention.

Current figures show 124 foreign nationals on death row in the U.S. Fifty-five of those are from Mexico. Most of them are on death row in California or Texas.

Bellinger explained that “The cases covered by the ICJ judgment all involved heinous murders, including of young children. Some proceedings had gone on for many years, with the victims’ families patiently waiting while our state and then federal courts reviewed the outcome to ensure that it fully complied with our laws. Yet the ICJ judgment nonetheless required us to review these cases again to consider the unlikely possibility that the outcome would have been different if the defendant had been asked whether he wanted his consular officer notified of his arrest.”

The ICJ “ordered the United States to review the cases of 51 Mexican nationals convicted of capital crimes,” Bellinger told the audience. Citing U.S. sovereignty and the concerns of the victims’ families, the Bush Administration could have ignored the ICJ ruling. But Bush, “acting on the advice of the Secretary of State,” decided to “require each State involved to give the 51 convicts a new hearing,” he said. Hence, Bush sided with convicted killers from Mexico against the American victims and their families.

Presidential Power

How did the President do this? On February 28, 2005, Bush simply made a “determination” and assumed the power to tell the states what to do.

He declared, “I have determined, pursuant to the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and laws of the United States, that the United States will discharge its international obligations under the decision of the International Court of Justice in the Case Concerning Avena and Other Mexican Nationals (Mexico v. United States of America), 2004 I.C.J. 128 (Mar. 31), by having state courts give effect to the decision in accordance with general principles of comity in cases filed by the 51 Mexican nationals addressed in that decision.”

The Bush Justice Department argued that the president has the power to do whatever he wants to do. “In particular circumstances, the President may decide that the United States will not comply with an ICJ decision and direct a United States veto of any proposed Security Council enforcement measure,” it said. “Here, however, the President has determined that the foreign policy interests of the United States justify compliance with the ICJ’s decision.”

But Bush’s home state of Texas decided that Bush did not have that power.

Texas Says No

Bellinger acknowledged that “The first defendant to try to take advantage of the President’s decision was in the state of Texas, which objected to the President’s decision. In response, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals ruled that the President had no power to intervene in its affairs, even to obtain compliance with an order of the ICJ. This Administration has gone to the Supreme Court of the United States to reverse this decision. We expect a ruling from that Court this time next year.”

So here we have a case of the Bush Administration going to the U.S. Supreme Court in an effort to enforce compliance with an international court! And the case involves litigating against the President’s home state of Texas!

There’s an old saying, “Don’t mess with Texas.” Well, Bush did.

Bush Promotes New Treaties

Trying to impress his international audience, Bellinger declared that “international law binds us in our domestic system” and that the Bush Administration entered into 429 international agreements and treaties last year alone.

Bellinger bragged that “…I have a staff of 171 lawyers, who work every day to furnish advice on legal matters, domestic and international, and to promote the development of international law as a fundamental element of our foreign policy.”

According to Bellinger, “Our Constitution does not prescribe isolationism. To the contrary, it promotes our active participation in the development and enforcement of international law.”

This will be news to patriotic Americans.

Even in cases where the administration seems opposed to some new international institution, Bellinger made it clear that the opposition is only half-hearted.

For example, while Bush never sought ratification of the ICC, Bellinger said that “…over the past couple of years we have worked hard to demonstrate that we share the main goals and values of the Court.” He explained, “We did not oppose the Security Council’s referral of the Darfur situation to the ICC, and have expressed our willingness to consider assisting the ICC Prosecutor’s Darfur work should we receive an appropriate request. We supported the use of ICC facilities for the trial of Charles Taylor, which began this week here in The Hague. These steps reflect our desire to find practical ways to work with ICC supporters to advance our shared goals of promoting international criminal justice…”

Bellinger did not explain what would happen when the ICC decided to lodge charges against U.S. soldiers or officials over “war crimes” in Iraq or elsewhere.

New Global Warming Treaty

Anticipating Bush’s embrace at the G-8 meeting in Germany of a new and much-tougher global warming treaty, Bellinger said that the U.S. was pursuing “a host of climate-related measures, both domestically and internationally,” including “a new post-2012 framework on climate change.” Al Gore would have been proud.

In the only remarks that could please conservatives, Bellinger said that the Bush Administration would NOT pursue ratification of the Convention for the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), a radical pro-abortion feminist measure. He said that “…we have not been persuaded that the binding international obligations contained in that treaty would add anything to the measures we take domestically.”

Considering that Bush is pushing UNCLOS—and dozens of other treaties—and that he sided with Mexico against his own country and his own state in the Avena case, the failure to push ratification of CEDAW may not be hailed as much of a victory by conservatives. Indeed, Bellinger seemed to be arguing that CEDAW was not necessary because U.S. domestic law was already as radical as the U.N. treaty and that the administration was perfectly happy with that state of affairs.

Bellinger closed his speech by saying, “The principles that The Hague symbolizes are ours too, and our common future rests on them.”

June 10, 2007

In 1994, a number of babies were born near Brownsville, Texas, with strange maladies. Numerous reporters were investigating to see if the culprit was a hidden environmental factor needing to be uncovered. Two little babies were born without brain stems.

With that in mind, now I give you a Faustian wager:

If President G.W. Bush were to say to you, “I’ll sign an Executive order today that will end abortion in America, as far as it is up to me, if you will simply allow the two little babies born down in Brownsville, TX without brain stems to be euthanized. They are only going to live a short time anyway.” Would you make the deal?

Keep in mind that you will be saving the lives of millions of babies at the expense of just two. Pragmatism and utilitarianism would surely recommend that you accept the deal. The entire pro-life movement would demand that you accept the deal. Compassion for children would cry, “YES! I’ll accept the deal!” Your own heart would cry out from deep within your bosom that this is a gift from God. “YES! YES! I’ll accept the deal!” Incrementalism would say, “Amen!” You would also be called every name in the book if you didn’t accept the deal.

So what would you do? Millions of lives depend on your choice.

The devil loves to get us into predicaments like this. He confronts us with the oldest lie on the face of the earth. It is a lie birthed in the pit of hell and it seeks our ultimate destruction. Here it is: “Did God really say….?”

Yes, the devil is always calling God’s Word into question. It is his way. But that is only the bait to get you and me to outright deny God’s Word. The devil is indeed the ultimate incrementalist.

He used it on Eve in the Garden, and Eve bought the lie – disaster followed. He used it on Jesus during His temptation, but he was crushed by the Word of God. He used it on the disciples and saints upon whom the Lord built His Church, and he was crushed again by the Word of God. Today, he is using it (the lie of incrementalism) upon you and me. Will you stand upon God’s Word, or will you bargain with the devil?

The only thing we need remember here is that God never gave us the bargaining chip to negotiate this deal. All human life is sacred to Him. We do not have the moral authority to determine who lives and who dies. This is God’s domain.

One life is as precious in His sight as hundreds of millions of lives. Our responsibility is to say what God says in His Word. Those two babies born down in Brownsville, Texas, are as precious in His sight as all of the 7 billion people on this planet. “What you have done to the least of these my brethren, you have also done it to me…”

The battle is not ours but the Lord’s! Our duty is not to try to outsmart the devil in all of his wiles, but to stand upon the Word of God! Nothing less will do.

Incrementalism is a lie from the pit of hell for it will never allow us to stand alone upon God’s Word!

Operation Rescue was birthed in repentance. We knew we were to stand absolutely on the Word of God. We did not see compromising God’s Word as a tactic to end abortion. We laid our lives down that others might live. We were arrested, lost pastorates, lost jobs, were fined, sued, and were pursued by our own government as “enemies of the state.” Yet, “little by little,” God was leading us to victory. That’s right! When we stand steadfastly on God’s Word, God Himself incrementally brings us into victory.

Say What?

Read the Bible and see (Exodus 23: 27-33; Deuteronomy 7: 21-22; Matthew 13:31-33). God is going to give the Promised Land to His people “little by little” – that is incrementally. But only as they stand resolutely upon His Word. The lie of incrementalism is that we become “as God” trying to negotiate the terms of peace. God wants us to represent Him alone – no negotiation with the enemy. God Himself has already determined the terms of peace. We need to simply deliver God’s mail and He will, incrementally, bring us to victory!

Of course, this demands an understanding of Scripture and the true nature of the abortion battle. Abortion is a Gospel issue. God will honor those who stand upon His Word and unsheathe the sharp double edged Sword of the Spirit. You want to end abortion? Nothing less than national repentance over the sin of child sacrifice will do. This requires that the Word of God be proclaimed. The Emancipation Proclamation for the Unborn Child must be signed by the President of the United States of America.

For this to happen, repentance in the Church of Jesus Christ must take place first. Yes, abortion will come to an end in America when the Church of Jesus Christ makes up her mind it will come to an end – not one second sooner! We, God’s Church in America, are the ones in sin because we know that abortion is murder, yet do nothing about it! We just blame the Republicans for being cowards, and the Democrats for being murderers.

In Operation Rescue we did not compromise God’s Word. We stood upon the absolute principle that abortion was, is, and forever will be – murder! No incremental steps or attempts to find common ground with the enemy of God’s children. We just took God at His Word.

If you have to compromise His Word in order to get some legislation to pass, like killing babies if they have parental consent, or waiting 24 hours before killing, or anesthetizing the baby before you kill him, then you have bought, hook, line, and sinker, the lie from the devil. The devil never wants anyone to stand upon God’s Word alone, for it spells his absolute defeat. He can’t win when you and I do this. He gets you and me to compromise God’s Word in order to save the lives of some babies, while he keeps his grip on the heart of our nation by keeping abortion legal.

This is the lie of incrementalism.

As we stood upon God’s Word in Operation Rescue and allowed the theology of the Church house to become biography in the streets, we were colored by the devil, and his crowd, as wild-eyed lunatics bent on blowing-up abortion mills and shooting abortionists. Note the design here was to keep us from doing what we were doing.

The devil even used our brothers and sisters in Christ to say we were hurting the cause because of our foolish behavior. The Church said we were disgracing the Name of Christ because we were not submitted to those in authority over us. So we retreated back inside the church house to lick our wounds. We tried to convince ourselves that the only hope to end abortion was to incrementally work for it through legislation spawned in Washington, D.C. Just exactly what the devil wanted – when God’s Church retreats, all hell breaks loose.

We will save some babies, to be sure, by our compromising of God’s Word through incremental legislation - the devil is more than happy to give us a few if we will leave God out of the equation. But we will never end abortion! This is the confusion the devil has been throwing the pro-life movement into for quite a long time now. We keep compromising God’s Word – we do it so that at least we will get something passed in the House and Senate. If it is going to pass muster it has to be watered down. But at least we feel something is going in the right direction.

Church – don’t we want to see abortion criminalized once again in America? Don’t we want to be like Joshua and Caleb who knew that victory comes only as we stand on God’s Word and trust in Him? Instead of all hell breaking loose in our nation, don’t we want to see all heaven being released? If we truly desire to see “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be, done on earth as it is in Heaven” then we must not remove ourselves from under the authority of God’s Word. It is His Word that God watches over to perform. It is His Word that vanquishes his foes. It is his Word that will restore this nation once again, only we must be strong and courageous, taking our stand using the one weapon we have been given – the Sword of the Spirit, the very Word of God.

Did you hear the story on Mitt Romney that proves amusing? He talks on gays, guns, abortion, immigration and the war in Iraq. Like many shyster politicians he flip-flops faster than a pancake cook at I-HOP. We must view Romney and all politicians like a popular summer footwear: Crocs!

Let’s face it; Senator Teddy Kennedy symbolizes the Typhoid Mary of immigration. He infected this nation with the 1965 Immigration Reform Act. He injected us with the 1986 amnesty and today, he plunges a dagger into the heart of our civilization with S. 1348.

He’s not alone. While Kennedy did nothing to uphold our laws following 1986, Senator John McCain proves the Charles Manson of the Iraq War and immigration. Let’s keep bombing Iraq for the sake of killing while we masochistically eviscerate ourselves with an unending line of poor, killers, rapists, misfits, drug dealers and child molesters. Of course, they break into America for a better life!

Senator Harry Reid represents an out of touch, clueless and an Alzheimer’s victim that can’t remember which country he serves. Senator Arlen Specter (D-PA), 75, thinks red/white/green make up the colors of America’s flag. Senator Mel Martinez of Florida thinks Cuba should annex the Sunshine State. Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona can’t grab his butt cheeks with both hands as he panders to 20 million illegal aliens.

None of them deals with reality that common American citizens face daily across our nation. None of them send their kids to already conquered California schools or live in our new felony infested barrios. None of them face the crime, TB and drunk drivers on our highways that kill us daily.

Last week, Newt Gingrich rendered the best five points as to why S. 1348 failed:

1. The Proposed Bill Is Based on a Fantasy and Could Never Be Effectively Implemented: It is outrageous when the federal government is so incompetent it has to suspend passport requirements for Mexico and Canada while at the same time suggesting it will be able to process a "Z" visa for 12 million-plus illegal immigrants in one day.

While American citizens are waiting up to three months or longer for the federal government to process their passports, illegal aliens could get a 'Z' visa within 24 hours under the hopefully dead Amnesty Bill. Outrageous! The system is beyond broken when we cannot prioritize the needs of citizens before the desires of non-citizen lawbreakers.

2.The Attempt to Blackmail the American People by Threatening to Refuse to Enforce the Law Without a New Bill Is Disgraceful: A number of powerful figures in the Bush Administration and in the Senate have been saying that if we do not agree to pass this destructive bill, they will never enforce the law.

3. Americans Do Not Change Our Values to Fit Government Failures: When Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff said that we had to "bow to the reality" of millions of people being here illegally, he illustrated the difference between Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan as President.

4.Why Should Any American Believe That This Government Will Keep Its Word and Do Better This Time? We now hear from the President that we have failed to control the border and failed to enforce the law on employers, and therefore, we need a new law to replace the law we have been failing to enforce. The Simpson-Mazzoli immigration law passed 20 years ago promised the same things. Guess what? Teddy Kennedy lied just like he did at Chappaquiddick.

The fact is, Bush failed to secure our borders. Kennedy and McCain failed to abide by their oaths of office. As Kennedy drove the car over a bridge, he killed only one woman. Today, he’s about to kill an entire civilization. (FW)

And this raises another question: Who has been running the government for the last six years? Why do we think anything will change and that the law will now suddenly be enforced? Over the last six years, the three recently arrested New Jersey terrorists who had been here illegally for 23 years had a total of 75 charges by the local police, and yet not once was our immigration enforcement infrastructure able to identify that they were here illegally. And now we are told that with the new comprehensive immigration bill, we will start to enforce the law against those have come here illegally after Jan. 1, 2007.

Under the proposed law, will local, state and federal officials really try to distinguish between those who came to the U.S. illegally prior to Jan. 1, 2007 (eligible under the proposed law for amnesty), and those who have arrived here illegally -- or those who overstay their visas -- after Jan. 1, 2007 (not eligible for the proposed amnesty) The case of the 75 prior interactions with police of the Fort Dix terrorists demonstrates that we currently are incapable of identifying people here illegally. If 12 to 20 million are amnestied, who is seriously going to try and distinguish between the old illegal and the new illegal?

5. This Is a Fight for America's Future: Your senator needs to understand that this is the key fight over America's future and returning to a law-abiding, effectively enforced, serious government worthy of the American people. Let them know they can be with the vast majority of Americans and kill the bill or they can side with the special interests and try to ram through this extraordinarily destructive bill.

There you have it from a Washington inside-the-beltway shyster himself. If a shyster can spell it out, wow, what a concept! I’ve been saying the same thing for a decade.

At the very least, if that bill passes with Bush’s Kervorkian mission to kill this nation, and as he said, “pass this product,” we will see this country bleed to death and overdose on legal and illegal immigrants from a line that never ends. Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation said, “This bill will cost the American taxpayer $2.3 trillion if it’s only 12 million.” It’ll add two million legal immigrants annually, 400,000 Z-visas, 380,000 annual anchor babies, unending chain migration and swell the ranks of the poor into the millions. Its final “product” will add 100 million people to the United States by 2040. (Source: Fogel/Martin 2006, U.S. Population Projections)

This bill, 33 years hence, will prove certain mortality of America.

What you can do for a better future for your country:

A republican form of government is not a spectator sport. It means you must jump in, roll up you sleeves and take personal and collective action. Of course, you could let a dictator take over and do everything for you, but that path would give you Cuba, China, North Korea and other unsavory examples.

To stop Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid from giving an amnesty, take action. Call for a full 10 year moratorium.

We must 'sour the milk.’ Bring out your points in the call:

1, America cannot support another 100 million people added to our country in 34 years, i.e., water crisis, resource depletion, air pollution, gridlock, loss of quality of life, etc.
2, America cannot support lawbreakers being given citizenship.
3, America must maintain our English language.
4, America wants only legal immigrants who play by the rules and speak English.
5, America's working poor deserve a chance at jobs taken by illegals
6, America already has too many people and I support a 10 year moratorium on all immigration.
7, Americans must maintain our schools for our children.
8, We can no longer tolerate 350,000 birthright citizens (anchor babies) annually that subtract from our own citizens.
9, Attrition through enforcement by stopping their ability to wire money home, obtain rental housing and jobs.
10, An amnesty failed in 1986, and it will only be worse today. We're being displaced out of our jobs and out of our own country. Call with relentless and never-give-up passion.

Of Islam, Communism and Slavery

Of Islam, Communism and Slavery

By Bill Wilson, KIN Senior Analyst

WASH—Jun 13—KIN-- Predominantly Muslim and socialist countries rank as among the worst nations in the world when it comes to the human slave market according to the latest U.S. State Department annual assessment of worldwide human trafficking. Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar, which along with Algeria, Equatorial Guinea and Malaysia joined regular annual offenders Myanmar (Burma), Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria in the State Department's annual "Trafficking in Persons Report." Within this sorry list are humans with a story, people who have been exploited beyond the bounds of human decency.

The State Department reports that according to the United Nations there are 12.3 million people in forced labor, bonded labor, forced child labor, and sexual servitude at any given time; other estimates range from 4 million to 27 million. Each year some 800,000 people are trafficked across national borders, which does not include millions trafficked within their own countries. Approximately 80 percent of transnational victims are women and girls and 50 percent are minors who are trafficked into commercial sexual exploitation. These numbers do not include millions of female and male victims around the world who are trafficked within their own national borders-the majority for forced or bonded labor.

There are some very consistent trends when looking at this report. Islam is at the heart of the sex and slave trafficking market. The religion and the government of these countries are one with one another. There is no separation of church and state, so to speak. These countries sell their own women and children into the worst bondage imaginable. They also sell Christians into slavery. Because there is such a discrepancy between these nations and others with regard to this issue, one can draw the conclusion that Islam, as well as communist or socialist countries, place a godless value on human life.

The ownership of a human being by another cannot be justified. Christianity does not justify slavery. In fact, the Letter of the Apostle Paul to Philemon in the New Testament is an example of how the love of Christ is greater than slavery. Paul sent Philemon’s runaway slave back to him, “that you might have him back for ever, no longer as a slave but more than a slave, as a beloved brother, especially to me but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.” Slavery is not God’s perfect will for man. We know this in these modern days. But the godless, such as Islam and communism, condone and promote human bondage and they should be held accountable here on earth, as they will before God.

Military Officers Now Targets on Hill

Military Officers Now Targets on Hill

Jun 14, 6:27 AM (ET)

WASHINGTON (AP) - A Democratic challenge to Gen. Peter Pace indicates that uniformed officers no longer are exempt from the partisan fire on Capitol Hill once reserved for civilian policymakers.

On Friday, Defense Secretary Robert Gates made the stunning announcement that he would not recommend Pace to serve a second two-year term as the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Marine Corps four-star general had not been a target previously of Democrats' ire on the war, but Gates said lawmakers made it clear the confirmation process would be ugly.

"It would be a backward looking and very contentious process," Gates said at a Pentagon news conference.

The announcement was a surprise, particularly because the Senate in recent months confirmed other military officers with close ties to the Iraq war with little fuss.

In January, Senate Democrats helped confirm Gen. David Petraeus to take over the Iraq war despite their opposition to Petraeus' recommendation that the U.S. send thousands more combat troops into Iraq. The following month, Democrats endorsed Gen. George Casey as Army chief of staff after he led the Iraq war for 2 1/2 years.

Their approval kept with a long-held tradition on Capitol Hill that lawmakers level any stinging critiques at civilians and praise uniformed officers for their service to the nation.

"General Casey knows Iraq and the challenges the Army faces there," Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said in February. "The principal failures that led to the chaos in Iraq were due to the civilian leaders."

But when it came to Pace, Levin signaled a new era in which uniformed officers close to the president would be held accountable.

In an interview with reporters this week, Levin said Pace's nomination would have been more contentious than other uniformed officers because he was the closest military adviser to the president on a failing war.

Levin also noted the White House had hammered Democrats for approving Petraeus' nomination while opposing the general's recommendation to send more troops to Iraq.

"So by the president's and the White House's own logic, a vote for or against Pace then becomes a metaphor for where do you stand on the way the war is handled," Levin said.

Other senators expressed a similar view, indicating Democrats would no longer back the once popular Marine Corps general.

"General Pace has served the nation and the Marine Corps with great fidelity for over 30 years," said Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I. "But, at this time, I believe that Secretary Gates has made the right decision."

Although House members lack the power to confirm military officers, they too appear willing to break from the tradition of not criticizing the military leadership. Rep. Ellen O. Tauscher said Wednesday she thought Pace was guilty of a dereliction of duty because of his support for President Bush's Iraq policy.

Tauscher, D-Calif., a member of the House Armed Services Committee, said Pace lost standing among members in March when he said homosexual acts were immoral and that the military should not condone the behavior by allowing gays to serve openly. He later apologized, including in a personal letter to Tauscher, for expressing what he said were his personnel views.

Tauscher said his comments on gays "showed his ignorance" and "had to be deeply discounted because they came from a man who had presided over a war that we got into on a lie and what I consider to be a serious dereliction of duty in having our troops and our readiness so destroyed by the policies of this administration."

Pace's demise comes amid increasing frustration by Democrats on their ability to force Bush's hand on the Iraq war. Following a meeting with the president and his top advisers on Wednesday, Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., called the presence of U.S. troops in Iraq "the great divide in the room."

"We all want stability in the Middle East, we all want peace, we all want a place that people can prosper," Schumer said. "But it is our view it really can't happen unless the policy in Iraq changes. It's their view that the policy in Iraq furthers stability in the Middle East, and it's hard to see that happening as things continue to decline, whether it's in Iran, in Syria, in the Israel-Palestinian conflict."

Palestinian Civil War

Some Call It A Coup

Hamas vs. Fatah

Situation Grave

CNN Warns:

Mideast Could Erupt In Flames

Part of a Proxy War Between US-Israel vs Iran-Syria

Debka Analysis at Bottom of Page

The situation in the Mideast is growing more perilous by the day. The TV News channels, like CNN have suddenly begun giving wide coverage on the newly erupting civil war taking place within the Palestinian movement.

The American news media is finally noting that the Palestinian Hamas party has becoming proxy partner with Iran, while the US has supported Fatah. The situation is part of a greater struggle between Iran plus Syria and the United States plus Israel.

The situation in Gaza is becoming a grave threat to the future of Israel. For that reason, Prophecy watchers should be monitoring the situation. Should Hamas win, Iran will have a proxy army on Israel's southern flank as well as on its northern flank where Hezbollah prepares for a resumption of last years war with Israel.

It would appear that Iran is behind the Hamas attempt to seize power by brute force. Iran will be able to use Hamas just as it is using Hezbollah in the north to attack Israel.

Below, you will find a roundup of news reports and analysis of the situation.

Hamas Takes Fatah HQ

Three of the PA's most important symbols in the Gaza Strip fell into the hands of Hamas on Thursday after hundreds of PA security officers surrendered or fled to the West Bank. The southern town of Rafah also fell into the hands of Hamas.

The latest Hamas victories in the Gaza Strip shocked many Fatah leaders here. "This is a real coup against the Palestinian Authority," said Nabil Amr, a top advisor to Abbas.

The fighting between Hamas and Fatah intensified to critical mass yesterday and carried over today in Gaza. Hamas has virtually eliminated Fatah from the entire Gaza strip, save for one last stronghold in Gaza.

Hamas militiamen on Thursday night issued an ultimatum to policemen in the main headquarters of the PA security forces in Gaza City to surrender or face death. The headquarters, known as the Saraya, is located in the center of the city and houses hundreds of policemen belonging to the PA National Security Force. By 11:00 p.m. Thursday night Hamas forces had captured the stronghold. More details here.

Fatah Official Says...

Gaza Has Fallen To Hamas

Two years after Israel's unilateral retreat from the Gaza Strip, the territory today fell into the near complete control of the Hamas terror group, which now administers Gaza and its borders with Israel and Egypt.

A senior Palestinian Authority official from the Fatah party told WND today "Gaza has fallen. It's now Hamas land. We (Fatah) have lost."

The official said Hamas seeks to create an "Islamic caliphate" in Gaza and that it is expected to put former Hamas Foreign Minister Mahmoud Al-Zahar in control of the terror group's reign in Gaza.

Israeli security officials said they were "gravely concerned" about Iran's influence over the territory Hamas now controls.

According to Israeli and Palestinian security officials and Hamas sources, Hamas today took complete control of northern and southern Gaza and most of central Gaza with the exception of the main Fatah security compound in Gaza City known as the Ansar Compound. More detalis here.

PA Gov't Dissolved

Mahmoud Abbas, Palestinian Authority president, on Thursday night dismissed his Hamas-led government and declared a state of emergency, although with little prospect of imposing it in the Gaza Strip after Hamas routed his Fatah loyalists there in the space of a week.

His decrees marked the end of a unity government the two parties formed in March after agreeing in Mecca on a programme to end their factional strife. In the latest round of violence, Hamas gunmen seized almost all the main Gaza bases of security forces that answer to Mr Abbas. More details here.

Hamas Executing Fatah Prisoners

Hamas fighters overran two of the rival Fatah movement's most important security command centers in the Gaza Strip on Thursday, and witnesses said the victors dragged vanquished gunmen into the street and shot them to death execution-style. More details here.

Hamas Captures

Presidential Compound in Gaza

forces late Thursday moved into the last Fatah stronghold in Gaza City, the compound of offices of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, witnesses and Hamas officials said.

Hamas spokesman Abu Obeida said there was no fighting at the site, because Fatah officers had left earlier in the evening. Hamas forces overran the main Fatah security force headquarters on Thursday, taking control of virtually all of the Gaza Strip. Abbas was in the West Bank city of Ramallah at the time. More details here.

Calls For Multi-naitonal Force In Gaza

Fatah Threatens To Fire Their Leader For Gaza Defeat

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday night issued a "presidential decree" dissolving the Hamas-led unity government and declaring a state of emergency in the Palestinian territories, PA officials here said. They added that Abbas informed representatives of the Quartet of his decision and asked for their backing.

Abbas phoned US Secretary of State Condaleezza Rice and briefed her on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, the officials added. They said Abbas was also planning to call for deploying an international force in the Gaza Strip to restore law and order. "President Abbas has decided to fire the government," said one official. "Ismail Haniyeh is no longer the prime minister and soon there will be a new government.

Abbas's decision was taken after two days of intensive discussions with Fatah leaders, who exerted heavy pressure on him to fire Haniyeh's government. Some of the Fatah leaders went as far as threatening to declare an open revolt against Abbas unless he began taking a series of measures in response to Hamas's massive offensive in the Gaza Strip. More details here.

Arabs Fear Conflict Will Spread

Arab countries are eyeing the chaos in Gaza with alarm, fearing that the Palestinian fighting could spread to the West Bank and further destabilize the region. The Arab League chief on Thursday called for a cease-fire, warning of disaster otherwise.

Arab governments have been stunned by a battle that is rapidly creating a dramatically new reality on their doorsteps: a Gaza Strip controlled by the militant group Hamas and a West Bank held by the Fatah faction of President Mahmoud Abbas.

There are fears that if the fighting spreads to the West Bank, it will further weaken Abbas and ultimately stir up trouble for Jordan, said a Jordanian government official who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the situation's sensitivity.

Roughly half of Jordan's 5.5 million population is Palestinian. A Gaza-style civil war in the neighboring West Bank could spark clashes between the factions' supporters in the kingdom _ particularly in refugee camps where many support Hamas, the official said. Such fighting could destabilize the Jordanian government and lead to a radical new Jordan government allied with Syria and Iran! More details on Arab fears here.

What Are Israel's Options In Gaza?

Views From Israel

Defense Minister Amir Peretz convened security chiefs for a situation assessment on Thursday afternoon, with the focus on the Hamas onslaught on Fatah forces in the Gaza Strip. Two main conclusions were reached: First, Fatah has lost in Gaza, and second, Israel will not intervene, at least for now.

From a military perspective, some defense officials actually said there was reason to be thankful for Hamas's takeover of the Strip. Before the recent round of intra-Palestinian violence, Israel had to distinguish between Fatah and Hamas gunmen in Gaza and make sure that that the former, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's loyalists, were not targeted. Now, according to this view, there is no longer any need to draw such distinctions, since all gunmen are Hamas and therefore fair game.

"The bank of targets has grown tremendously with Hamas's takeover," explained one official involved in monitoring events in Gaza and planning policy. "Hamas is a clear and defined enemy, and that means that when we decide to respond it will be easier than before, since all their buildings are now targets, as is anyone walking around with a weapon." More details here.

==================================== Analysis...

Hamas Poised to Convert

Captured Gaza Strip into Islamist Enclave

Senior Israeli officers described the Hamas victory to DEBKAfile as a greater misfortune for Israel than its Lebanon War setbacks. There, Hizballah was forced by Israeli military action to accept a UN ceasefire and international peacekeepers. Hamas has no such incentive. In the case of Gaza, the winner takes all and can dictate terms. A radical Islamic enclave with a dominant Iranian-Syrian military presence has sprung up unopposed as a hostile reality on Israel’s southwestern border. It has made the Israeli-Middle East Quartet’s boycott an irrelevance. Full Debka coverage here.

Washington's consumer safety recalls overwhelmingly hit imports from East

WASHINGTON – It's not just Chinese food and drug imports that can kill you.

Many of those bargain-priced products you pick up at Wal-Mart, Target or Sam's Club could do you in, too.

Imports from China were recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission twice as often as products made everywhere else in the world, including the U.S., a WND study of government 2007 reports shows.

(Story continues below)

Of the 152 product recalls announced by the commission since January, 104 have been for products made in China. They include:

Portable baby swings that entrap youngsters, resulting in 60 reports of cuts, bruises and abrasions;

Swimming pool ladders that break, resulting in 127 reports of injuries, including leg lacerations requiring up to 21 stitches, five reports of bone fractures, two back injuries, two reports of torn ligaments and eight sprained ankles;

Faulty baby carriers that result in babies falling out and getting bruised, getting skulls cracked and hospitalizations;

Easy-Bake Ovens that trap children's fingers in openings, resulting in burns;

Oscillating tower fans whose faulty wiring results in fires, burns and smoke inhalation injuries;

Exploding air pumps that have resulted in 13 lacerations including six facial injuries and one to the eye;

Bargain-priced oil-filled electric heaters, selling for less than $50, that burn down homes;

Notebook computer batteries that burn up computers, cause other property damage and burn users;

Circular saws with faulty blade guards that result in cutting users, not wood.
It's the latest blow to Chinese imports, which have been hit in recent days for poisoning America's pets, risking America's human food supply and reintroducing lead poisoning to America's children.

Electrical products made in China represent a significant percentage of the recalls.

Last month, which was "National Electrical Safety Month," the commission noted the proliferation of "dangerous counterfeit electrical products," many of which come from China, that pose serious risk to life and limb.

The CPSC noted the market is saturated with counterfeit circuit breaker, power strips, extension cords, batteries and holiday lights that are causing fires, explosions, shocks and electrocutions.

"Many counterfeit products are made in China and CPSC is actively working with the Chinese government to reduce the number of unsafe products that are exported to the United States," said the alert issued in May.

The agency suggests that if the price of such an item seems to be too good to be true, it could be because the product is an inferior or unsafe counterfeit.

You might think an attractive, normal-looking table lamp would be safe. But 1,500 manufactured in China had to be recalled because of faulty light sockets that posed the risk of electrical shocks and fire hazards.

Or how about emergency lights that look just like other emergency lights but whose circuit board malfunctions, preventing illumination during emergencies? The CPSC recalled 3,200 of those last month.

And be careful which heated massaging recliners you relax in. If you chose of the 1,700 manufactured in China and recalled by the commission last month, you might have found yourself medium rare because of an overheating and burn hazard discovered.

Even the simplest, most inexpensive items from China seem to pose massive risks. About 2,700 $12 pine cone candles had to be recalled when it was determined the exterior coating, not just the wick, caught fire.

The problem is Americans see a cheap electrical power strip with a circuit breaker and assume it does what it is supposed to do. That is not the case with many Chinese counterfeits. They are not only counterfeits in the sense of improperly using brand names, they are actually counterfeits in the sense of pretending to do something they were never intended to do.

But big problems occur when an over-taxed power strip doesn't trip a circuit. Fires can occur. Property can be damaged. People can be killed.

Likewise, when Americans buy attractive-looking glassware at a bargain price, they might ask themselves: "How can I go wrong?"

Pier 1 Imports found out when 180,000 pieces of glassware were ordered recalled by the CPSC because the items broke for no apparent reason, sometimes cutting the hands of those holding them.

How could one go wrong purchasing an attractive kitchen stool engraved with a rooster on the seat? After all, it was only $30. Well, several people found out when the stools collapsed, even under the weight of small children.

You might want to think twice before entrusting your child to something as simple as a crib made in China. For years, American manufacturers scrupulously lived up to the exacting safety standards imposed by agencies like the CPSC. Not so with Chinese manufacturers.

Some 40,000 cribs had to be recalled when it was discovered directions instruction consumers to assemble them in ways that would result in the baby falling out and becoming entrapped. Additionally, locking pins on the side of the crib could pop off and cause a choking hazard.

About 450,000 infant car seat carriers manufactured in China had to be recalled when it was determined infants were falling out because of a faulty design. The Evenflo Co., which imported the carriers from China, received 679 reports of the handle on the car seat releasing for no reason, resulting in 160 injuries to children, including a skull fracture, two concussions and cuts and bruises.

American manufacturers also adapted years ago to requirements that products designed for young children avoid small parts that could result in choking accidents. But, again, based on a survey of recalls in the first six months of 2007, this seems to be a foreign concept among Chinese companies.

Even books for young children have been found to contain plastic squeaker toys that have become lodged in babies' throats and metal clips that break off, potentially injuring kids.

Graco received 137 reports of infants mouthing, chewing and sometimes choking on tiny pieces of its soft blocks tower toys imported from China. At least 32 infants were found gagging on the pieces and 49 choked on the plastic covering. In all, 40,000 had to be recalled.

A slew of Chinese exports recently have been banned or turned away by U.S. inspectors, including wheat gluten tainted with the chemical melamine that has been blamed for dog and cat deaths in North America, monkfish that turned out to be toxic pufferfish, drug-laced frozen eel and juice made with unsafe color additives.

As WND reported earlier this week, China, the leading exporter of seafood to the U.S., is raising most of its fish products in water contaminated with raw sewage and compensating by using dangerous drugs and chemicals, many of which are banned by the FDA.

The stunning news followed WND's report last week that FDA inspectors report tainted food imports from China are being rejected with increasing frequency because they are filthy, are contaminated with pesticides and tainted with carcinogens, bacteria and banned drugs.

China consistently has topped the list of countries whose products were refused by the FDA – and that list includes many countries, including Mexico and Canada, who export far more food products to the U.S. than China.

While less than half of Asia has access to sewage treatment plants, aquaculture – the raising of seafood products – has become big business on the continent, especially in China.

In China, No. 1 in aquaculture in the world, 3.7 billion tons of sewage is discharged into rivers, lakes and coastal water – some of which are used by the industry. Only 45 percent of China has any sewage-treatment facilities, putting the country behind the rest of Asia.

Moscow Releases Nuclear Fuel for Iran’s Bushehr Reactor

Moscow Releases Nuclear Fuel for Iran’s Bushehr Reactor

Iran's Bushehr atomic reactor can start rolling with Russian fuel

Russian president Vladimir Putin put teeth in his threats and his cynically helpful alternative suggestions regarding the deployment of US missile defenses in Poland and the Czech Republic.

DEBKA-Net-Weekly 304 disclosed on June 8 that the week before the G8 opened in Germany, Moscow released the long-withheld nuclear fuel for Iran’s atomic reactor in Bushehr. It was delivered 24 hours before Israel launched its new military imaging satellite Ofeq-7, bringing forward the Iranian threat to Israel, according to DEBKAfile’s military sources. One immediate result has been the stiffening of Tehran’s negative posture, sparking what nuclear watchdog director Mohammed ElBaradei called Monday, June 11, a confrontation that needs to be urgently defused.

As DEBKA-Net-Weekly reported, special nuclear containers were loaded on a train in the yard of the manufacturers JSC Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant on June 2-3. They contained two types of nuclear fuel, WER-440 and WER-1000.

The special train then headed out of Novosibirsk to Astrakhan on the Caspian Sea, 2,000 km away. There, the containers awaited loading aboard a Russian ship destined for Bandar Anzili, the Iranian military port on the Caspian shore. According to our Iranian sources, a fleet of Iranian trucks was waiting at the other end outside Bandar Anzili port to transport the nuclear fuel and drive it slowly and carefully to Bushehr, a distance of 850km, arriving June 10 or 11.

But DEBKAfile’s sources added the journey was interrupted by holdups ordered by the Kremlin in an episode which also laid bare the interdependence of Iran’s nuclear industry and Tehran’s program for arming Syria for war with Israel with the latest Russian munitions.

Arguments over payments due from Tehran have dogged relations with Moscow before and Putin is far from trusting.

A few days before the nuclear fuel left the Siberian factory, Tehran delivered the sum of $327m for a fresh delivery of Russian missiles to Syria. Iran pledged another $438m for further arms consignments before the fuel cargo was allowed to go forward. Putin then ordered the cargo to be loaded at Astrakhan, but await delivery in port until payment was made.

DEBKAfile picks up the story Tuesday, June 12, and reports that Iran duly deposited the money and the ship was permitted to set sail and cross the Caspian Sea to Iran.

DEBKA-Net-Weekly went on to report that Putin never promised Bush that Russia would deny Iran the nuclear fuel for its Bushehr reactor in perpetuity, as some administration circles in Washington have claimed in the last two years. He did assure Washington, mainly in conversations with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, that he would postpone delivery as long as he could, despite Moscow’s contractual commitments to Tehran.

The Bush administration’s plan to deploy missiles in East Europe made the Russian president mad enough to set this assurance aside.

His move hits the US where it hurts most: The UN Security Council meets at the end of June to approve harsher sanctions against Iran for continuing to enrich uranium in defiance of previous resolutions. The Russian fuel delivery will substantially dilute the effect of such penalties, especially when the Islamic Republic is about to clinch a deal for the acquisition of long-range ballistic missiles from North Korea (as DEBKA-Net-Weekly 300 revealed on May 11).

Putin developed a complex and well thought out retaliation strategy for America’s missile deployment in East Europe.

1. A second consignment of nuclear fuel went out to India from the same Russian factory which supplied Bushehr. This was a swipe by Putin at US-Indian nuclear cooperation which it is also under attack in the US Congress. It was also meant to place Moscow at dead center of the Russian-American-Israeli contest over domination of the Indian arms market. This contest also pertains to the developing military ties between New Delhi and Tehran, which Moscow is working hard to turn to its benefit. The Kremliln has not said the last word on this contest.

2. Monday, June 4, the Russian president sent the director of the Russian Nuclear Energy Commission, Sergei Kirienko, to the Russian Interfax news agency with an announcement: “I have just visited the Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant; fuel for Iran and India is ready,” he said. “It will be delivered six months before the physical launch.”

This statement has granted the Russian president six months’ leeway for jumping whichever way he finds expedient.

It is time enough for Moscow and Washington to reach terms on the Iran issue as well as the East Europe missile deployments. If the Bush administration digs its heels in on the missile defense shield, Russian engineers employed at Bushehr will be told to go ahead and activate the reactor even before December 2007. But if Washington relents, Russian personnel can always be told to go back to dragging their feet, as Moscow did on the nuclear fuel.
